Automated Outdoor Public Toilets

Throughout the pandemic, there has been a noticeable increase of fecal matter, both human and canine, littering the sidewalks of Toronto. I commend the City for providing portable toilets as a quick, temporary solution during the lockdowns. However, a permanent solution is necessary as we invite office workers to return downtown and as tourism picks up. Therefore, I propose the City install automated public toilets like in Vancouver.

Benefits to automated public toilets include:

  • Available 24 hours, 365 days of the year,
  • Quickly self-cleans after each use, and
  • Can pay for itself by selling advertisements.

These are a few of the many benefits of installing automated public toilets to address the growing number of human feces on the sidewalks-a sanitary and hygiene issue for all. Please help get this passed.

Increased Lighting on McGill and Granby Streets

Additional street lighting should be installed on both McGill and Granby Streets, notably on the North side of Granby Street, as the streets are very dark in the evening. This has contributed to high levels of crime in the neighbourhood in the evening and early morning hours. This proposal should be supported in order to reduce crime and preserve the quiet character of the McGill Granby Village.
